Features of stone rollers

Classification of press stone rollers
1. Classification by material
- Natural granite press stone roller: This is a common press stone roller, made of high-quality natural granite or artificial stone. These stone rollers have countless micropores on their surfaces, making it easy for paper sheets to detach from their surfaces.
- Artificial stone press stone roller: In order to overcome some shortcomings of natural granite, such as poor bending strength and easy brittle cracking, people have developed press stone rollers that use artificial stone instead of natural granite. This artificial stone is made of a mixture of rubber and quartz sand, and has better durability and elasticity.
2. Classification by structural characteristics
- Flat press roller: This is a traditional press stone roller, the upper press roller is a stone roller, the lower press roller is a rubber roller, and both rollers have a flat and smooth roller surface.
- Vacuum press roller: This press stone roller is suitable for medium and high-speed paper machines, the upper press roller is a stone roller, and the lower press roller is a vacuum press roller. The structure of the vacuum press roller is basically the same as that of the vacuum roller, and is mainly used to suck the air in the eye holes of the roller shell to improve the efficiency of pressing and dehydration.
- Grooved roller: This is an improved type of stone roller developed in the late 1950s. The spiral grooves are cut on the rubber layer of the rubber roller with an alloy steel knife. The opening rate of the grooves is an important parameter affecting dehydration. The grooved pressing structure is also a stone roller on the upper roller and a rubber roller on the lower roller.
- Blind hole roller: This type of stone roller is made of rubber or polyurethane on the iron roller core, and a blind hole with a diameter of 2mm and a depth of 12~15mm is drilled on the rubber surface.

Natural granite press roller is an important part for pressing and dehydrating on papermaking machines. It has the characteristics of smooth surface, high hardness, high strength, acid and alkali resistance. The granite roller surface is smooth, but there are many tiny micropores, and the air permeability is good, so the wet paper is easy to fall off, which is particularly conducive to paper splicing operations and is widely used in various papermaking machines.
